Scientist/Sr. Scientist, Formulation
Summary: The Scientist / Sr. Scientist in Process Development Department is responsible for monitoring and coordinating formulation activities. The formulation scientist will work closely with downstream and analytical scientists to analyze biochemical and biophysical properties for biopharmaceutical products. The position requires experience in antibody / protein characterization, formulation, stability studies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support drug candidate design optimization, selection, validation, and stability study throughout pre-clinical and clinical purification process development for antibody/protein.
- Support and closely work with research, cell-line development, upstream, downstream, and analytical scientist.
- Lead pre-clinical and clinical formulation development and stability studies for antibody / proteins.
- Perform UF/DF, HPLC/UPLC, CE, MFI, Osmolality, viscosity, solubility, DLS, and other biophysical techniques for formulation and for characterization of proteins in development.
- Process transfer and documentation to support manufacturing.
- Write and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Participate in timeline planning and decision-making regarding research and PD priorities of company or department and provide information on feasibility of prospective projects.

Education and Experience:
- Ph.D.; MS in Protein Science, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a related field (Ph.D., new graduates welcome); 5+ years (MS) of relevant pharmaceutical or biotech experience.
- Experience in high throughput screening and solution protein formulation development.
- Hands-on experience and trouble-shooting proficiency with HPLC/UPLC, CE, MFI, Osmolality, viscosity, solubility, DLS.
- Knowledge of biophysical techniques for protein characterization and stability.
- Ability to design and execute experiments independently.
The hiring pay range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000 per year based on skills, education, and experience relevant to the role.
