Working closely with its parent company in China Biokin Pharmaceutical, SystImmune specializes in developing innovative cancer treatments using its established drug development platforms, focusing on bi-specific, multi-specific antibodies, and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). The pipeline includes more than ten assets in clinical development for solid tumor and hematologic indications. SystImmune is uniquely positioned to leverage drug development innovation ecosystem in the US and Biokin’s significant development infrastructure in China to accelerate innovation.

Business Development is a critical driver of SystImmune’s growth and as the founding member of the China BD team you will play a key role in driving the partnering strategy. You will have the opportunity to grow and thrive in your career while driving the entire continuum of BD process including leading search and evaluation for innovative opportunities in China, support partnering and out-licensing efforts working in close coordination with the global team while keeping a pulse on competitive oncology disease landscape.  

This role reports to Vice President and Head of Business Development SystImmune (US based).  

Key Responsibilities
  • Being the first point of contact in the region for SystImmune BD and engage with emerging biotech and local representatives for global pharma companies. 
  • Represent SystImmune at local industry conferences, networking events and meetings with potential partners.  
  • Establish long-term professional relationships with BD network and potential partners in China to promote SystImmune as a partner of choice 
  • Support partnering and out-licensing efforts working in close coordination with the global team  
  • Actively seek out potential licensing partners based in China (e.g. the BD team of a MNC pharma in China) and assess the strategic and commercial value of out-licensing opportunities 
  • Coordinate business development discussions with potential partners by managing day-to-day interactions  
  • Coordinate information sharing with partners and facilitate the due diligence process to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of potential partnerships 
  • Lead or assist transaction discussions working closely with the global BD team to draft and negotiate partnership agreements and contracts 
  • Monitor and analyze emerging technologies that could add value to SystImmune pipeline and associated BD/portfolio priorities.
  • Own the delivery of competitive analysis of target and disease landscape to inform of BD and portfolio strategy
  • Summarize and provide insights-recommendations to senior leadership team based on your analysis 
  • Lead search and evaluation efforts for strategically aligned innovative opportunities originating in China for potential in-licensing, research collaboration, platform technologies and research tools 
  • Lead assessment of opportunities in close coordination with R&D and global BD teams by managing interaction with external parties, overseeing due diligence, developing timely compelling rational to peruse (and to not peruse) opportunities.  
  • Support competitive intelligence analysis, including gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing competitive and market intelligence to support strategic decision-making in clinical development and business development.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in business development, strategy consulting, or investment role in the biopharma industry
  • Master’s or doctoral degree (preferred) in a related scientific field. MBA, management consulting experience, overseas education is a strong plus 
  • Have strong credibility within the biotech and pharmaceutical industry in China as a BD leader to leverage its knowledge of the ecosystem to represent SystImmune across the life sciences community  
  • Strong collaboration mindset, problem solving and excellent communication skills to be able to present the work to senior leadership 
  • Prior experience in business development search and due diligence activities preferred. Experience in BD transactions and cross-border deals is a strong plus  
  • Ability to learn fast, adapt in a multi-faceted environment, and drive initiatives beyond past experiences 
  • Ability to work at flexible hours to accommodate multiple time zones required
  • Proficiency in English and Mandarin
